Description

We are the perfect choice for your country getaway, situated halfway between Pickering and Helmsley on the A170 which runs along the base of the North Yorkshire Moors. It's great walking country, moorland and coastline too.Local places to visit are Whitby on the heritage east coast, Castle Howard, Reveaux Abbey and lots more historic places too as York is only 30 miles away. We are a family owned and run hotel offering great value for money, superb food, ales & wines along with a true Yorkshire welcome.David & Alison Nicholas have dedicated themselves to restoring this once glorious hotel to it's former status, a sympathetic refurbishment has made the bar, bistro & restaurant areas stylish & welcoming. The perfect place to meet with family and friends, unwind, eat and drink. The 20 individually styled bedrooms are a perfect retreat from the ' hussle- bussle' of our busy lives.
The George & Dragon chefs are passionate about food and this is why we were voted one of œTop 50 Places to eat out in the Countryside in the Times newspaper last year. You may dine in the lovely candlelit restaurant, once the old brew house which has a unique charm or the bistro adjoining the cosy bar with roaring log fire. There is a private car park at the rear and a delightful courtyard for alfresco eating & drinking.
