In a beachside setting in the picturesque village of Tighnabruaich, The Royal an Lochan Hotel offers a restaurant with fresh, local seafood and rooms with sea views. Each en suite room at The Royal An Lochan Tighnabruaich is unique and spacious, with homemade shortbread. With real wooden floors, cosy sofas and real log fires, The Deck dining room serves a modern Scottish menu with fresh, locally sourced produce and Scottish seafood. The public areas have fires and comfortable leather sofas ideal for enjoying a drink. Numerous board games are also on offer for guests to relax with and enjoy. The Cowal Peninsula offers golf, sailing, fishing, walking and cycling.

Directions

By road from Glasgow Scenic route : 1.Leave Glasgow on the M8. 2.Leave the M8 at J30 onto the M898 for Erskine Bridge. 3.Turn left of the bridge onto the A82. Follow A82 up Loch Lomond to Tarbet. 4.Turn left here onto the A83. 5.Over the Rest-and-be-Thankful mountain pass (this is where the scenery starts), then take the left turn A815 to Dunoon. 6.At Strachur turn right onto the A886. After the Clachan of Glendaruel turn right onto the A8003 which brings you right to the hotel. Ferry route 1. Leave Glasgow on the M8. Continue on the A8 to Greenock. 2. At Greenock take the A770 and take either the CalMac - Gourock to Dunoon ferry or the Western Ferries - Clyde to Argyll ferry. 3. After leaving the ferry turn right and drive to the head of Holy Loch. 4. Take the left turn onto the B836 5. At the end of this road turn right onto the A886 and shortly afterwards turn left onto the A8003 which brings you right to the hotel. By road from Kintyre 1.Take the CalMac ferry from Tarbert to Portavadie. 2.Leave the ferry and drive to the cross-roads at Millhouse 3.Continue straight ahead following the B8000 to Tighnabruaich. 4.Follow the road past Kames post office down the hill and along the shore to the hotel on your left. By sea The hotel lies on the Kyles of Bute, Firth of Clyde. We have our own mooring buoys at 55° 54′ 4″ N, 5° 14′ 16″ W.
