This Grade II-listed 3 Red Star baroque country house is not too far from the M5, but you'd never realise it. Inside, the Duke of Wellington provides the theme, with the bedrooms and restaurants named after his battles.

Amongst the seven acres of stunning formal and woodland gardens are a heated outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, croquet lawn, a rediscovered rose garden and a Victorian Orangery. The 220 acre Langford Heath Nature Reserve is five minutes walk away.

In the hotels Wellesley Restaurant, gifted chef, Michael Davis, has created imaginative modern British cookery. The restaurant has 2 AA rosettes for excellent food and wines.

Unspoiled countryside, 18th century Gothic splendours, a genuinely innovative hotel, superb food. If you are looking for these things, at Bindon as the motto over the front entrance says â€˜Je trouve Bienâ€™ (I find them well).

The historic oak panelled Wellington Bar, with its open fireplace, is the place to relax with an after dinner drink with coffee and petit fours or play a game of chess.

Directions:

Exit the M5 at Junction 26 (1) -Take the A38 to Wellington-After one mile take the B3187 into Wellington and at the 2nd set of traffic lights turn right staying on the B3187 to Langford Budville after approximately 2.5 miles there is a sharp hand bend (2) turn left to the village - Drive through the village and take the next right (3) towards Wiveliscombe (Follow the Hotel Brown Finger Signs)-turn right again at the next junction and after one mile you will pass Bindon Farm and after a further 450 yards take the next right for Bindon Country House (4)
