Description:

Carlton House is one of Britain's premier restaurants - top 100 in the UK - we are very small, located in a tiny rural Welsh town deep in the Cambrian mountains, with some of the best food in Britain. If you like walking, this is a fabulous place for peaceful hill-walks (a real secret!) without the crowds found in well-known places like the nearby Brecon Beacons. NOTE: THE RESTAURANT IS CLOSED ON SUNDAY EVENING.

We are recommended by all the best food Guides (Good Food Guide, Michelin, AA Rosette Guide, Hardens) and by the best accommodation Guides (AA, Good Hotel Guide, Which? Hotel Guide, Alistair Sawday, Hardens). We have comfortable, well furnished bedrooms, all with private bathrooms, TV, DVD/CD players, radio/alarm clocks, tea/coffee etc, plus large towels and good quality complimentary toiletries.

We do not, however, provide trouser presses, room service, 'free' sherry, fruit, chocolates etc, sweeping views or extensive grounds - and so you are not asked to pay for them! We DO provide quality, comfort and some of the best eating you will find anywhere.

BRASSERIE ROOMS: We have a nearby Brasserie (Bassets Brasserie, a one minute walk from Carlton) where rooms are less expensive. Breakfast is taken at Carlton House.


Directions:

From the south - up the A483 from Llandovery, proceed through the town center and over the river bridge - turn left immediately after crossing the bridge, into the Dolycoed road - Carlton House is third on the right, very RED - you cannot miss it!

From the north - down the A483 from Builth Wells, take the first available right turn after entering the town - Carlton House is third on the right, very RED - you cannot miss it!

HOT TIP: our whole reservation book, for Carlton House and Bassets Brasserie, is available on-line - go to our website and click on the ONLINE RESERVATIONS button (home, accommodation and enquiry pages) - you can then see if we are busy on a particular date, or not - offers for a quiet date at short notice are more likely to be accepted! If you wish to eat in our restaurant, this will certainly prompt us to accept a lower offer than otherwise might be acceptable. Offers for two nights or more will also be more readily accepted.
