The Swan, which was first recorded on charter in 1377, still retains many of its original features. Our contemporary restaurant, serving cuisine from around the world complemented with fine local dishes, is open to residents and non residents, as is our bar and coffee lounge ?Reeds?. Every guest is special at The Swan, and it has had some famous visitors including Queen Elizabeth I, The Earl of Essex and entourage, Sir Francis Drake, Lord Nelson, Judge Jeffries, Jane Austen and Gilbert White to name but a few.
There are 36 recently refurbished en suite rooms. All have full facilities plus internet access points. There is a family room that sleeps up to 6 people. The Jane Austen Suite has a four-poster bed. There are function rooms available for conferences, parties and weddings that can cater for up to 150 guests.
