RoomAuction.com Signs Up Britannia Hotels to its Reduced Price Room Auction Service
RoomAuction.com (http://www.roomauction.com), the service where people can bid for rooms in UK hotels by deciding how much of the standard rate they’re willing to pay, is expanding with the addition of the Britannia Hotels chain (http://www.britanniahotels.com) to its roster.
Since its launch in late 2004, RoomAuction.com has seen business expand and now has more than 100 hotels signed up to its service. Holidaymakers and business travellers can bid for and book rooms at hotels of their choice for less than the standard, published rate. Now they can also secure rooms at five distinguished Britannia Hotels in the popular destinations of Blackpool, Brighton, London, Manchester and Liverpool.
Potential guests choose a hotel, decide what proportion of the standard rate they’re willing to pay for a room – for example they may offer £75 for a £100 room - and the hotelier decides if the offer is good enough. For hoteliers, RoomAuction.com’s service helps fill empty rooms at non-peak times, such as Sundays, and mean any rooms that are vacant at other times can easily be booked out at a reasonable rate. Meanwhile, thanks to the bidding system, hotel guest benefits from paying considerably less than the standard room rate, with some hoteliers accepting ‘cheeky’ offers of up to 50% off their published tariffs.
RoomAuction’s service is discreet: there’s no need for hotel guests to pick up the phone and risk receiving a frosty response from a receptionist or hotelier to a low offer. The service is free for hotel guests and no registration or credit card details are required until the booking is confirmed. Hoteliers pay an annual fee of £250 + VAT listing their accommodation but no per-booking commission is charged.
