The Dwor Oliwski Hotel is made for a princess, calming pastel shades of pink and blue made me feel like I was living in a fairy-tale. The large corner bath was just calling out to be filled with thousands of bubbles and pink petals as I sipped champagne and nibbled on chocolate truffles.
Alas I didn’t have time to experience my fantasy, but it was all possible! The bath was real and the champagne only a call to room service away. The organic bathroom products always help you feel you’re doing your bit for the world, though in reality should be the norm in all hotels these days. I hope they will be soon.
It felt almost old fashioned, but in a good way, that chocolates were left on my pillow before bed. I don’t think I have had chocolates on my pillow since a chalet ski holiday when I was 8.
The room was well equipped with soft fresh robes, wide screen TV, Wi-Fi, minibar and plenty of plush squishy pillows. I certainly had a good night’s sleep.
The hotel is set in a woodland wonderland with beautiful walks amongst the trees, hammocks to relax in and a lake where you can gaze across to the old Smiths Mill. ‘Rapunzel Rapunzel throw down your hair’.
The thatched roof added a thought of the three little pigs, but luckily there was no big bad wolf to blow it down. There are many spots amongst the grounds where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Perhaps with another glass of champagne, because it feels right in these luxurious surroundings.
There is no shortage of sofas to relax on around the hotel, both in my room and in the lobby areas in the different corners of the hotel. The fresh roses dotted around the hotel make everything feel refreshing and beautiful. I only wish I had some roses in my room.
The hotel spa includes a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, several relaxing areas and a decent sized pool. It wasn’t too busy when I went for my essential Jacuzzi session and I came out feeling relaxed and invigorated. They offer a wide selection of spa treatments from chocolate massages to facials and nail treatments. I had been hoping for a hot stone massage but unfortunately didn’t have time in my busy itinerary around Gdansk.
I didn’t get chance to enjoy the main restaurant for dinner but the breakfast was delicious. You even had the opportunity to pour yourself a glass of Bucks Fizz or just Fizz if you really want to kick off your day well. They had a plentiful supply of fresh fruit, meats, cereals and hot breakfast. I opted for the make your own waffle, smothering it in melting Nutella and fresh raspberries. It certainly set me up well.
