B Square hotel is a charming three star hotel is located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris and is simply a little hidden gem. The rooms were renovated in 2012 and now provide guests with all the creature comforts you'd expect from a little establishment. There are different rooms available with several options to suit mosts guests needs.
A light-filled lobby greets guests daily, with breakfast being served in the dedicated lower ground restaurant. Each floor is serviced by an elevator or a central stairwell for those wishing to increase their daily step-count.
My favourite feature of the room was the quintessentially Parisian balcony. Once opening the inward double glazed doors, you can easily perch on the low stool provided. Here you can picture yourself as many Parisians before you, sitting at the window sipping your espresso, all the while watching the life of Paris continue to bustle on below you.
A significant benefit to this hotel is the location. The neighbourhood is mainly urban residential with proximity to 2 metro lines from Rome (line 2) & Place de Clichy (line 13) providing guests with the freedom to explore Paris without exhaustive efforts. However within walking distance is the Sacre Coeur Basilica and the trendy nightlife of Montmartre. Here, the normally flat city of Paris, can be seen in all it's glory from atop of the hill. Swing by a boulangerie, grab snacking supplies and spend the rest of the day wandering through the cobblestone streets through one of the most historic and interesting neighbourhoods in Paris.
A long day of sightseeing needs one thing, rest. At B Square, we stayed in a Superior Double Room and as such one can expect a quaint refurbished room with an extremely comfortable queen sized bed. There's an ample supply of pillows and all tastefully decorated with funky modern decor. The bathroom features a counter top basin, a walk in shower with a delightfully satisfying rainfall shower head and miniature amenities to tend to your weary body. The heated towel rail warms towels to the point that they feel like they're giving you a warm embrace.
If you need directions or perhaps a local recommendation for a quaint Parisian cafe, the 24 hour multilingual staff on reception at B Square are available for all your queries and needs. Each room has air conditioning which is a treat in Paris, and some reliable and well distributed Wi-Fi.
Breakfast at B Square is a continental style, an array of cured meats, pastries, breads and cheese to get you going. Fresh juice, fruit salad and mixed yoghurts tailored to your taste. For me, the presence of a coffee machine was gold. It's on hand to mix your caffeine to your liking. Multiple refills required? No problem!
Nearby is a small supermarket for snacks on the go or there's multiple restaurants nearby if exploring by taste is more to your liking. Don't pass up the opportunity to explore the adjacent undercover market for local bargains.
