The Golden Tulip Gdansk is perfect for a longer stay in the city. Only a brief walk from the beach and a short drive into town it is well situated for whatever it is that brings you to the city.
My suite was set over two floors and was equipped with everything I would need for a week or even a longer stay. Clean lines and modern furnishings always helps to clear my mind and instantly makes me feel productive and refreshed. I could have easily whiled away the hours on my balcony tapping away on my laptop, as I am now, as I watched the busy world of the hotel go by.
The suite included a really comfy sofa, two double/twin bedrooms, one in the attic up a spiral staircase. A kitchen in a cupboard was far more luxurious than it first may sound and had everything, including a decent sized fridge/freezer and even a dishwasher! You could easily save money by buying food in local shops and cooking back home in your apartment. There was plenty of storage space, including a huge wardrobe and big chest of drawers. The bathroom was a decent size with very powerful shower. I could have done with a little more power in the hairdryer, but it worked eventually.
I was invited for dinner in the hotel, where you have the choice of a buffet or a la carte menu. The RoomAuction team and I opted for the a la carte and I was more than happy with my fresh salmon meal. So delicious we ordered it twice… no seriously we did! My dessert was equally tasty and it was only my full belly that stopped me from ordering a second chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream and white chocolate sauce. My taste buds are drooling as I write this.
Breakfast was busy, but the buffet included plenty of choice. Fresh juices, yoghurts, fruit and a large hot selection. You have the option to sit outside in the sunshine, which is a great way to start your day.
The hotel has a decent sized spa with swimming pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room and a selection of treatments to be booked in advance. The pool was quite busy on my evening at the hotel but much quieter in the morning if you were after a more peaceful swim.
Golden Tulip is really well suited to families, with a large outside play area and even a crèche where you can leave the kids for some adult only time on holiday.
